Tony, I've given to many causes and this is one of the few cases where I've gotten such a thorough explanation of all the good that the money did. Hopefully all those apples will keep the doctor away for another day and the gamers will live to fight a bit longer.

I realized after I got home from the con that all I had eaten all day was half a cheeseburger and an apple you pushed in my hands! Thanks for the fruit and double thanks for bringing the leftover concessions to the shelter. You are a top notch guy!

Thanks for the fruit, Tony! It was a great change of pace from candy! For my money, it was one of the highlights of the Con.

Welcome back, Tony. It's certainly tough to get going again after a big interruption. But, once you get back at it, you will quickly bounce back. That first workout will be tough, but I find that, if I can get through that first "bounce back" workout, the next ones come easier.

10 lbs in two weeks is definitely aggressive...

D'oh! The file ran out at 11:36 in mid sentence. Will we ever learn who the new donor is? :-)

There is limitations to this F55 inthat you cannot personalise a cardio training program on Polar's Personaltrainer.com and download that to the F55. You are forced to use the default program on the web. You also cannot create a training program on the F55 and upload it to the web as a program. It will only record the results and you will still have to manually trasfer the information to your own training program that you would have to have set up. The Personaltrainer.com and the F55 may be of use to a person that does not have an exercise program. The upshot of the F55 is the default Body work out options which I found very usefull. The record of calories used is usefull for those driving calories. Rating 4/10

Tony, I appreciate the dedication to getting this podcast out on a regular basis, but....2am???

Man, one truth I've learned for sure is that you are not going to lose weight if you don't get enough sleep.

Glad to hear that you've made good progress and that you and the wife enjoyed the night out. I find that I appreciate things like that more when I am deprived for a while.

Glad to hear you're making progress on the weight loss again. Even if other things like the writing aren't progressing as well, I think you're still on the write track. The book can always be done when it's done, but our bodies need to get back in business now so we don't miss out on graduations and weddings down the road. I know my wife would kill me if I died early!

Not sure how well the fruit would go over at a 'con - people set up at the game tables would still have to deal with apple cores, banana peels, etc...
I can say one of the places that I will always pick fruit over chips is Subway as they made it an easy alternative with their packaged apple slices - you can just grab the slices and eat 'em like you're grabbing chips, and you only have the the little bag to deal with. Something like that would probably sell well along with chips but they'd take some work to set up - they make a kitchen tool that will core & slice an apple with one swoop which probably wouldn't be too bad but you'd have to soak 'em in something like a water-n-lime mixture to keep them from turning brown and then baggie 'em up. And the baggies could still have something like a "your purchase helps support the Tony's Losit It Podcast" or something like that. Eh... might be an idea if you can find a couple of local volunteers to help I guess hehe.

Tony,

I can certainly appreciate the struggle of now having a new baseline that is higher than when the podcast started. I'm in much the same boat. I'm starting this year the heaviest I've ever been. This year has to be different - for both of us!

While I don't have many readers, I did take the opportunity to make sure to pimp your show.

You are not alone, my friend.

Congrats on the new addition to the family :)
Don't feel bad about falling off the rails for a few months - at least you had a legit excuse!
Me, I'm an outdoor exerciser (hate gyms) and started falling off around mid-october when the weather started changing over, and pretty much completely derailed around Thanksgiving.
Between living in an area that gets cold & snowy in the winter (thus giving me a bad excuse for not getting out to exercise), and making the mistake of giving myself a "free pass" for holiday eating... I've gained back about 8 pounds of the 20 I spent all summer losing, within a matter of a few weeks.
Now that the holidays are pretty much over I basically got PO'd at myself and started forcing myself back on track, trying to get myself motivated about that crummy exercise bike again and also considering going out and blowing some cash on some cold-weather exercise gear.
Oh, and I think you may have mentioned this site in one of the old podcasts, but I could also mention the majority of my motivation comes from one website - SparkPeople.com - I just can't rave about that site enough. Might even be worth creating a "TLI" team on ;)

Might even be worth creating a “TLI” team on

Welcome back, Tony, we missed you.

Glad to hear that things are going better now with the family. It's certainly true that problems at home, of whatever nature, can be rough on our bodies. I love my kids and wouldn't trade them for anything, but they've been the worst thing for my waistline. :)

I think you've got the right idea to get back in the game now and get a jump on the new year. Besides, come Jan 2, the gyms are going to be crowded again with all the New Year Resolutioners - but, don't worry, it'll last about a month.

Welcome back!

Tony - I hope all of you are all doing well or at least as well as can be expected! And that Julie and the baby will be healthy and home soon. Maybe its time for Julie to catch up on her reading or listening to podcasts - I think that there are a few good one out there :-)

That said - this in no reason to stop eating healthy an going back to the junk food! Keep trying to stay on the plan!

For the last two years, I've been sugar soda free and living on diet soda, even going caffeine free for the last six months or so. Yet, even at that, I'm back to being the heaviest I've ever been. I drink water on occasion, but I bet I easily drink 3 liters of Diet Dr. Pepper a day.
I keep talking about making the switch to drop the carbonation altogether. With this latest show and some other stuff I've been reading, I'm going to make the push. Good thing I like sugar free Kool-Aid.

Oh Yeah!

Diet soda doesn't work for me because it makes me crave salty snacks. Something after the cloying aftertaste makes me want potato chips or something.

I did the dip-the-fork thing for salads when I was doing eDiets. It really works! I've never been a person who likes a lot of dressing on my salad, though, so that is right up my alley.
When I want a vinaigrette dressing, I like those new Wishbone Sprays.

You definitely have to pick a meal plan that is going to work for you long-term. I don't even consider low-carb diets like Atkins because I KNOW that I don't want to go without bread or potatoes.

Tell Tee that everyone doesn't turn to running. I am not going to run even if someone is chasing me :-). I definitely walk rather than run when I get on my treadmill.

A lot of people say that when they have been on a diet for a while and then go back to fast food, it doesn't sit well on their stomachs. I must be built for junk food because I have never experienced that. When I quit eDiets, I headed straight for the fast food and it tasted SO good. I guess that's why I gained all my weight back and then some. The healthy eating habits just don't stick with me.

I am not a daily soda drinker. I'm a binge soda drinker. If my husband buys a 2-liter or a case of soda, I will drink and drink until it is gone. I don't miss it if he doesn't buy it, though. Soda for me is a snack. I don't drink it because I'm thirsty. That's why I have trouble increasing my water consumption -- I don't get very thirsty. If I drink 8 oz of water in addition to my 2 cups of coffee, that's a good day. With the Sister Challenge, I've worked myself up to 34 oz of water a day and I feel like I would spew water if you bumped into me. Ugh!

Well, good, I thought I was just going a bit crazy. Glad to hear things are OK with the new little one on the way. I've dropped a few pounds thanks to more regular exercise and a deliberate effort to not going out to eat all the time. Hang in there.
